Hey,
me and my wife are building a new home and the contractor said we could pick 2 items to do for sweat equity. What is your suggestion on the (2 items) that would be the best bet? what is going to give me the most value?

Fred,
Wow, that is the 2 million dollar question, that really depends on your talents. Are you good with your hands? Have you ever done any construction work or anything? Some might argue with me, but doing your own painting can sometimes help, or doing your own tile, or drywall etc. There are many options that are available but depends on your abilities and the help you can get. If you are a fireman for example, can you get your buddies to come and help hang drywall for beer and pizza one weekend? If that is the case then some of the more labor intensive trades like drywall, or stonework, or brickwork might be an option. Let me know of your skill and we can discuss it more.
Good luck,
Frantz
