How do I change an old telephone jack to the kind that is in use today?

Lynette,
How old is your old phone jack? The best thing that you can tell me is when you pull the cover off, how many wires are there, and what color are they? That would give me a good idea of that you are in need of. Pictures are great if you have the ability to take a photo and post it up here. That will give me a clear idea of what you are dealing with. If not just let me know the number of wires and what colors they are. We can get started with that.
Also, as phone jacks have not changed much in quite a few years, let me know what it is that you are changing to. Is it just a phone line, or will it be a double line, or a new fax line? something like that.
There are all kinds of new jacks out there, some will handle CAT 5 capabilities, or network capabilities or things like that. But the basic phone jack has not changed all that much.
Get us the info above and we will get some pictures and such and to show you and get you started down the right path.
